Who we are
claroquote is a quoting tool for trade contractors, operated by {{LEGAL_BUSINESS_NAME}}(“claroquote,” “we,” “us”). You can reach us at {{SUPPORT_EMAIL}} or at {{BUSINESS_ADDRESS}}.
This policy describes what information we collect when contractors and their customers use claroquote, how we use it, and the choices you have about it.
Who the people in our system are
Two kinds of people interact with claroquote and this matters for understanding the data flow:
- Contractors (our direct users) — trade professionals who sign up for claroquote to build and send quotes to their customers.
- Customers(the contractor’s customers) — homeowners and businesses who receive a quote link from a contractor. Customers do not sign up for claroquote directly; their information reaches us because a contractor added them to a quote.
Information we collect
From contractors
- Name, email, and password (via our authentication provider, Clerk).
- Business information — shop name, license number, trades, business phone, address.
- Payment and payout information — processed by Stripe when contractors enable Stripe Connect to accept payments on quotes. We do not store card numbers.
- Product use data — quotes built, line items, price book entries, usage counts. This stays within your shop and is used to personalize search and defaults.
From customers (entered by the contractor)
- Name, phone number, service address, and optionally email.
- The content of the quote itself — line items, prices, findings, photos the contractor took on-site.
- Interaction with the quote link — timestamps for when the quote was opened, approved, or paid.
SMS & messaging
This is the section most people skip, so we’re pulling it out front. claroquote sends SMS (text messages) in a few places:
- Quote delivery:when a contractor taps Send, we text the customer a link to their quote. The message includes the contractor’s shop name and an opt-out instruction.
- Quote re-send:if the customer loses the link, the contractor can re-fire the same message from the quote’s detail sheet.
- Approval & payment notifications to the contractor: when a customer approves a quote or pays, we text the contractor so they know.
How customers consent to receive SMS
claroquote uses a conversational opt-inmodel. Contractors collect a customer’s phone number in person, on-site, during the course of providing a quote for work the customer has requested. By providing their phone number to the contractor, the customer agrees to receive a text message containing their quote from that contractor via claroquote. Contractors are responsible for confirming this consent when they collect the number; the claroquote interface displays a reminder at the moment of customer entry.
Opt-out and help
Customers can opt out of future claroquote SMS at any time by replying STOP (also STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT) to any message they receive. Once we receive an opt-out, we record it and block all future claroquote SMS to that phone number — across every contractor using our service. Re-opting-in requires contacting us at {{SUPPORT_EMAIL}}.
Replying HELP or INFO to any claroquote message returns a short message with our contact information and links to this page.
Carrier fees & frequency
Message and data rates may apply per your wireless plan. Message frequency is low and depends on how many quotes a contractor sends you — typically 1 message per quote, with an optional re-send if you misplace the original link. We do not send marketing messages, promotional offers, or unrelated communications.
SMS processor
We deliver SMS through Twilio, Inc., which acts as our messaging service provider. Twilio may process phone numbers and message content in order to deliver messages; see Twilio’s privacy policy for details.
How we use information
- To operate claroquote — build quotes, send them, receive payments.
- To send transactional messages (SMS and email) related to a quote’s lifecycle.
- To improve the product — usage counts, price book personalization within your shop.
- To meet legal obligations and prevent fraud or abuse.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use customer data for advertising. We do not share quote content with other contractors or shops.
Who we share information with
We share information with a small set of service providers who help us operate the product:
- Clerk — authentication, organization management, user sessions.
- Neon — hosted PostgreSQL database where quotes, customers, and shop data are stored.
- Vercel — web hosting and serverless compute for claroquote.app.
- Twilio — SMS delivery for quote links and notifications.
- Stripe — payment processing and contractor payouts, when a contractor accepts payment on a quote.
- Vercel Blob — storage for photos attached to quotes.
We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of claroquote, our users, or the public.
How long we keep information
We keep quote, customer, and account information for as long as a contractor maintains an active claroquote account. Quotes are intended to be long-lived business records. If a contractor deletes their account, we delete or anonymize associated data within a reasonable period, subject to legal or accounting retention requirements.
SMS opt-out records are retained indefinitely by design — if someone has asked us to stop texting them, we need to remember forever.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at {{SUPPORT_EMAIL}}.
Customers: if a contractor has sent you a quote via claroquote and you want your data removed, contact us and we will work with the contractor to handle the request.
Children
claroquote is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information against loss, unauthorized access, and misuse. No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at {{SUPPORT_EMAIL}}.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be announced in-product and, where appropriate, by email.
